Jejum faz bem para saúde

There has been quite a few real studies done about fasting. Its very healthy. The problem is - there is nothing to sell to people. no magic shakes, potions, fruits, etc. The easy way to start is you just don't eat for 18 - 30 hours 2 times a week and you cut massive caloric intake out of your week. and, it works. so you eat at say 1 pm - and don't eat until 1 pm the next day. thats it. Now, you can't then OVER eat. you eat regularly at that point, not making up for the previous time when you didn't eat...
the myths:
  1. metabolism. yes, your metabolism will decrease if you don't eat. what they never tell you is HOW MUCH. the decrease in metabolism is incredibly minor - like, 100 calories minor.
  2. muscle mass loss. if you are doing normal activities this is also relatively minor. what really helps is fasting + lifting though.
  3. The fabulous diets of other countries. What they didn't tell people in these studies is about the fasting that takes place for religious reasons in large numbers throughout the year. they didn't include these things in their studies!
  4. The human body at this point doesn't need to eat as much as we do, nor does it need the whole 5 meals a day angle that is often preached.
  5. The current human body no longer is often hungry, but instead thirsty. Over the years we have lost touch with the distinction between the two, and in turn we eat when we are actually needing water.
  6. The only real thing that anyone has ever been able to deduce over all is that the body is in 1 of 2 modes constantly. Feast/Famine. This is evolutionary due to how we as omnivores use to eat and hunt. This is still the case today.
There are fasting programs you can read about out there, a popular one being "Eat, Stop, Eat" and "Juice Fasting"--Eat,Stop,Eat is basically what I just said. eat every 18 - 30 hours 2 times a week. They all say the same thing though - long term fasting requires supplements (vitamins and minerals) - however you can in fact, go without "food" for a long time provided you get the vitamins you need.
If you do this, you will loose weight - but it's hard to stick to, and you have to be willing to get use to feeling hungry at first. It goes away eventually once you get into a routine, but at first - it is hard.
Some Edits:
Bandapear has found an older copy of "Eat,Stop,Eat" PDF out there - scroll down a few comments, and there it is.
Taipan66 - has said that this copy is a older version, and that the newest version of "Eat, Stop, Eat" has more academic sources.
DionysosX - their post talks about supplements and weight lifting. DionysosX mentions "Animal Pak" as a good set.
Jperras - Their post offers several articles to look into around fasting.
thehollowman84 - Their post offers some articles about fasting.
Numerous Posters - [1] Leangains.com has been brought up around Intermittent Fasting and sources of further information.

I've been following this: http://www.warriordiet.com/content/view/24/35/
Basically 20 hours of fasting a day and 4 hours of eating..generally between 4-8pm.
My energy and concentration at work is maximized. It takes getting used to--you may want to start with an 8 hour window and then shrink it until you just feel no need to eat during the day.
Plus, the convenience of not having to worry about breakfast/lunch everyday makes it so much easier too. I know people like their lunch breaks, but as a business owner looking to maximize productivity, this is the best life adjustment I've ever made.
